Hi Author, I joined the forum, after posting queries in the comment box

my question is the same...it has not been answered there as yet...kindly help, as day 4 has ended and tomorrow morning I start with day 5. Is the following menu ok:

B/f: 3 boiled eggs , as I was told to replace beef with 3 eggs (also, do all 3 have to be boiled, or can I go for omlette, fried, scrambled)

Lunch: White rice with curd and tomatoes (is oil/ghee needed in addition to this?)

Dinner: Cooked gram with onions n tomatoes cooked in a little ghee.

alternatively

Moong dal cooked in ghee/olive oil along with some onions, tomatoes and cottage cheese

Kindly suggest changes, if required

thanks!

Please be patient, it's only 2pm here, I will answer your email.

Cook the eggs as you like. Never over cook eggs though. Ruins the Good yolk.

What you have laid out looks fine. Your meat replacements although not ideal protein sources, have some fat and looks good :)

dinner: 2 boiled eggs with some rice

d6: bf: steam cooked veggies half bowl
lunch: wonder soup and 2 boiled eggs
dinner: 3/4 bowl of gram (chana) cooked in abt half-one tea spoon olive oil, along with raw cabbage, cucumber and onions

Net loss=3.5 kg...am a little disapointed :-(
Wt loss in last 3 days has just been 0.5 kg. I had white rice instead of brown (brown not available here), so would that affect anything? As a usual practice, we cook it in excess water and drain out the starch(to avoid the fat)....did the same for the diet days too. Could that be a mistake?
I want to thank GMD for motivating me for healthier food. Kevin, can I do day 1 again today, just today (d8)....and then follow your suggested diet from tomorrow? Will it work? Just want to lose another kg in this stint somehow!

white is better IMO. Brown has anti nutrients, white is simple starch.

3.5 kg is good. I recommend waiting a, in. of 2 weeks between rounds, prefer folks only do a couple and go to a solid lifestyle eating plan. By the way, the eating plans i shared, mine prescribed to me, I lost amazing weight. Why? I cut sugar and gluten, stuck to a plan, stayed at a good carb level and did not stray. :)

OK. We in India find it very hard to cut gluten, as ours is mainly a wheat based diet. Rice is, infact, considered the culprit for wt gain. This forum says the opposite. So, if wheat has to be avoided, where do our carbs come from? Donno if i can avoid, but sure go easy on it. Would main meals consisting of rice instead of wheat work in the long run?

Also, please answer the query that should the rice be cooked in it's own water, or cooked in excess water and then the starch be drained(the usual way I cook rice, as mentioned in previous post)

Also, on which days of the diet is coconut water allowed, and in what quantity?

Thanks!

Are you kidding, have you been to the U.S.? This is the country that ruined wheat. Hard, I live in a Metroplex area and can never eat out and can shop at 2 small stores within 20 minutes form here. Anything can be done when it comes to diet if you like. It's easy once you get used to it. However it can be difficult for the first 30 days.

Carbs: bananas, fruit, white rice, plantains, quinoa, buckwheat flour, millet, various squashes, and so on. There are loads of choices, most people just don;t want to give up their food they love.

A glass or 2 of coconut water is great

Gluten free is up to you, to me my only carbs are veg/fruit, like plantains, bananas and such and I am doing awesome. it has been truly life saving.

White rice, it's normally 2 parts water to 1 part rice, a little oil in a sauce pan, heat to a biol, put heat to low and pop a lid on and simmer for 15 minutes. then take off stove and sit for 10. I am actually tying white rice now as a carb, and a few other things doing the Cyrex Labs gluten cross creativity test. I miss my old way of eating.

Trust me, I have struggled and tried it all, finally I have it down and am thankful, my body cannot take any more abuse :)

Hello Kevin! I am so happy that I did not gain wt between last stint and this ( am on d2 of second stint). I ate healthy, reduced carbs, cut sugar....and I am feeling great! Can fit into old clothes that I had given up on :). On day 2, I have already lost 1 and half kg. Thankyou for motivating me n answering my queries.
One more question...I asked about coconut water earlier too, and you said 1 or 2 glasses a day is OK. I just want to clarify whether you meant for diet days (the GM diet week), or othewise. I had a full glass of coconut water today(D2) and it felt great, but am worried. So please tell on which all diet days is C water allowed and in what quantity?

A pure coconut water during diet days, yes 1 to 2 glasses is OK, helps to replace minerals lost when drinking so much water. Also post diet, you can drink as well. Just never over do it.

AWESOME NEWS!!! I can tell you the more you cut junk the better you will feel. Keep in mind, your dopemine levels take 30 days to reset, so say you cut chocolate, you may feel somewhat down some until your dopemine levels rise and normalize. Keep up the nice work. So nice to hear someone is working hard on this.

Hello Kevin. This is morning of d5 for me here. Lost 2and half kg so far. Hoping to lose total of 4 kg at the end of d7. Last time, the wt loss in last three days was too little. I want to ask, how can white rice(carb, starch) be a replacement for beef(protein, fat)? I had white rice, curd n toms for lunch last d5, and white rice on days 6 & 7 too, as beef n brown rice substitutes. I suspect that's why poor result on las three days. Please suggest, can I add Dal or Chana (gram) cooked in a little olive oil to the rice, to take care of protein?
OR
should I take 3eggs for bf, and just chana with toms for lunch n dinner?

technically it is not a replacement at all. But what else can we do technically for vegetarians that don't take eggs. White rice is a great simple starch. To me though it needs good fat like ghee or olive oil, and it needs protein to balance it.

if you do legumes, you DO NOT need rice. The legumes to me are the best vegetarian replacement for beef or eggs.

do 3 eggs, great idea, then do the chana for lunch and dinner.

What kind of oils do you eat or cook with when you are not on the diet?

We use mustard oil, ghee and sunflower oil (have already got a thumbs down from u on sunflower oil...am trying to minimize. Olive oil is just damn expensive here for daily use).

I did 2 eggs for bf, a bowl of chana with cumin, onions and toms (lightly cooked in a tea spoon of ghee) for lunch. And about 3/4 cup of paneer with onions and toms stir fried in half tea spoon live oil for dinner. Also had 2 cups tomato soup of about 4-5 small toms. Is this ok?

NO WEIGHT LOSS in the last 2 days, today is day 6, in fact seem to have gained half a kg yesterday...so, lost a total of only 2 kg so far. Oh, why don't I show results after days 4-5???? Pleeeeeeeeese help me!!!!!!

Am thinking of doing chicken today, day 6. If I pressure cook the chicken, do I drink the chicken broth as well?

muscle building can change losses yes, muscle weighs more than fat.

you are on a good path, ghee to me is the best to cook with and use. I use it as well. Coconut oil is great as is palm oil.

keep in mind you may not lose everyday. chicken is great. you can drink the broth, the broth is great but not on this program.

keep on going...

Do you suggest I reduce my exercise through walk on diet days? Folks on this forum always mention about exercise/ sport/ walking during the diet, never thought it could actually cause wt gain :-( :-( how come people lose 5-6 kg in one week and go on losing lots through repeated attempts at this diet? I soooooo wanna lose at least 6 kg more.

Do you think as per my pattern, I'm not going to lose much more through this diet? Please tell me, do I need to lessen my walk on off diet days as well?

Please help me.....

No, sorry let me explain more, what I mean is that muscle if you gain will weigh more than fat. Yes exercise as you like but on no protein days keep it very light as we say to on the exercise page.

The key to getting your metabolism up to me is HIT or Burst training. You need to get that metabolism up. The biggest key will be what you eat. Food is the key for sure!

Have to learn about burst training...no idea what it is. Do you recommend this on off diet days as well?

What I eat (on diet days) is absolutely as per the plan, NO CHEATING whatsoever. Yes, beef substitutes may be the problem, but people have got great results on Indian version of the diet too....

Hope to keep going, though. Never never want to regain what I have lost:)

Thanks for the support!
